A new programme to empower young entrepreneurs |

Slough Borough Council is proud to announce the launch of The EYE Lab (Empowering Young Entrepreneurs), an ambitious new initiative designed to support young people aged 16–30 who are not currently in education, employment, or training (NEET). Launching in December, this 12-week programme aims to unlock entrepreneurial potential and equip young residents with the skills, tools, and confidence to build their own businesses. The EYE Lab offers a dynamic combination of practical training, personalised support, and real-world enterprise experiences, ensuring participants receive the strongest possible foundation for business success. The programme provides young people with accessible pathways into self-employment, bringing together award-winning trainers, local business experts, and community partners. Whether participants already have a business idea or are exploring their options, The EYE Lab will guide them from early concepts through to launch-ready plans. Participants will benefit from: In recognition of barriers faced by many NEET young adults, The EYE Lab includes additional incentives to help ensure full accessibility: Cllr Dexter Smith, leader of Slough Borough Council, said: “The EYE Lab represents our continued commitment to empowering Slough’s young people. This programme builds confidence, nurtures talent, and gives participants the tools to transform their ideas into real enterprises. We’re excited to see the next wave of young entrepreneurs emerging from our community.” Andre Arundell StartUp UK’s Programme Director added: “Young people have incredible creativity and resilience. The EYE Lab provides the structure, mentorship, and resources they need to turn their ideas into sustainable businesses. We’re proud to partner with Slough Council to bring this opportunity to those who need it most.” Applications are open for the December intake. Eligible young people (aged 16–30, living in Slough, and currently NEET) are encouraged to register interest early, as spaces are limited.
